Dalgarno, Margaret

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Coventry Dalgarno on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Health Sciences North. Born in Dundee, Scotland on September 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and William Moutrie. (Step-daughter of John Mundie). Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James in 1999. Dearly beloved mother of Wilma (Marc Castonguay) and caring Gran to Eric (Sandy) and Diane (Martin). She was especially proud of her great grand children Natalie, Andrew, Evan, Sophia and Olivia. Truly a people person, Mum/Gran made friends wherever she went. Special friend of Diana and her cousin Bette (Dundee, Scotland). The family extend their appreciation for the ongoing support and friendship she received from her "library ladies" (especially Gisele), her home care workers Gisele, Melissa and Marley and her weekly visits with Stephanie and Peggy. We are most grateful for the professional, compassionate care given by the staff of 7A, North Tower, Health Sciences North and the palliative care provided by Drs. Charette, Pun and Singh. A Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. "Your memory will live on in our hearts forever."

1 Condolence

  1. Wilma, Marc and family, my deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of your beloved Mum and Gran.
Margaret was truly one of those people who was beautiful inside and out. Her wit, charm and glorious sense of humour (not to mention her adorable Scottish lilt) brought out the best in everyone she met. Her visits to the library were always the highlight of our day and we always looked forward to the next one. She mesmerized us with stories of life back in her homeland, her career as a nurse and even her time as a bartender! And how she loved to read! I think she read novels almost as quickly as they were published and it was always a fun and gratifying challenge to find new mysteries for her that she hadn’t already read. She was a unique and remarkable lady. I am very fortunate to have known her and I will always miss her dearly.
