Dale, Ellwood Elmer – October 22, 1939 – March 23, 2019

Passed away at the Health Sciences North on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Ruth Dale, dear father of Steven Dale, grandfather of Alexa, Sydney and Skyler Dale, Brother of late Kathleen Findlay (late Willard), Violet McGaughey (late Francis), Mona Erb (late Jack), late Evan Dale (late Noreen), late Marina Howard, (late Harold), late Melvin Dale, (late Ethel); Brother-in-law of Bill Gareau (Lorraine) Doug Gareau (Judith) Cliff Gareau (Carole) Ken Gareau. The family would like to send a special thank you to those who came to visit Ellwood while in hospital in his final weeks. A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Health Sciences North, 8th Floor North and Josee Neas of the Maison McCulloch Hospice, for their compassionate and professional care provided for Ellwood in his final days and the support and comfort to his immediate family during this difficult time. Ellwood was retired from Algoma Steel where he had a long fulfilling career as a welder from November 4th, 1968 to October 1st, 1999. He enjoyed many outdoor adventures, hunting and fishing at his camp in Batchawana over the years with his family and friends. Ellwood enjoy his retired life with his family and was very proud of his grandkids. Ellwood enjoyed his free time working around the house driving the tractor cutting the grass and snow blowing. In keeping with Ellwood’s wishes, at this time there will be no visitation or service, but a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Once a date and time are confirmed, it will be announced for friends and family however if friends or family would like to stop by and visit the family at the Chelmsford home please contact Ruth or Steven prior. Donations in his memory, can be made directly to Maison McCulloch or Arch Hospice and/or heart and stroke society.
