Corkum, Lorna Jeanne

It is with great sadness the family of Lorna Jeanne Corkum (nee Godon) announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON with family by her side. She was born June 22, 1945 in Sudbury, ON. Loving wife of Moran Marcus Corkum, Best Mom ever to Melanie (predeceased), Angela Uche and Jeffrey (Sara). Special aunt to the Folber girls and Mother-in-law to Soulieman Djama. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Helene Godon. Dear sister of Shirley, Phillip (Cathy), Frank (Gail), Ruth, Rita, Andrew (Sheila) and Emma (Earl). Predeceased by her sister Margaret Folber (Russel) and brother John (Wilma Clarke). Cherished grandmother of Anissa, Myriam, Aden, Ali, Isaiah, and Max. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. In her later years, her joys were gatherings with family and friends for card games, annual family reunions at Russel’s Resort, summers at Sand Bay, teatime with friends Lori Rose, Lisa Fanjoy, Shirley Guerard and niece Laura Gibson, road trips to visit her brothers and sisters and most of all time spent with her beautiful grandchildren. Sadly Covid-19 restrictions did not allow her to do most of what she loved in her final year. To her loved ones she was not able to see, know that she loved you very much. Family would like to express deep gratitude and thanks to the Cardiac ICU team. She was surrounded and care for by many skilled and compassionate Doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, dialysis team and support staff in her final days. Thank you to Dr. Gibb, Dr. Brabant, Sudbury Vascular Team and Footcare nurse Vivianne Leger for your care over the past years. Thank you, Father Sam, for your visit and helping Lorna in her final steps of her journey. Lorna is seated at the Grand card table waiting patiently to deal you in. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a future date. She will be resting at Civic Memorial Cemetery in Sudbury, ON. Arrangements have been entrusted with Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.rangerssudbury.com
