Connelly, Owen Joseph (Chuck)

On Wednesday, January 10, 2023 after a long and well lived life, Owen Joseph (Chuck) Connelly, beloved husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away. He was eighty. Dad had many loves in his life beginning with growing up in Rouyn-Noranda, the son of the late Owen and Viola Connelly where he was the youngest of 8. He is predeceased by Norm (Germaine), Noreen (Sisters of St. Joseph), Don (Lily) and Doreen (Jean-Guy) and survived by Cliff (Leona), Mildred (Sisters of St. Joseph) and Wayne (Regina).

Owen moved away at a young age to Goderich to chase another love, hockey, but where he met the deepest love of his life, his wife of 60 years Sharon. From there they ended up settling in Sudbury, specifically on Cranbrook Crescent where Neil Diamond or his beloved Detroit Red Wings would often be playing. Cranbrook is a special street with Robinson Playground being an anchor for so many amazing families and friends who would attend his annual Victoria Day fireworks party.  Chuck loved working with his IBEW brothers and playing 9, 18, or even 19 at the Lively Golf Course or having his favorite wings at Eddie’s. A member of St. Patrick’s Parish, Chuck was proud to serve as camera operator for over 15 years for Mass for the Shut-ins. Dad loved us kids Owen (Anna), Lori, Jennifer, and Patrick (Jamie) but probably his 8 grandchildren more, Geordie, Bryston, Mackenzie, Lauren, Matthew, Grace, Sean and Alexis.

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the ICU Staff of Health Sciences North for their kindness and care of Dad and their compassion for our family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
