Cheley, Dr. Stephen Bengt

It is with great sorrow the family announces the sudden passing of Dr. Stephen Bengt Cheley, on August 2, 2015. Born in New York City, U.S.A, he was the beloved son of the late John and Etta (nee Wallenius) Cheley. Loving brother of John, Linda (Rick Sowerby) and Mark (Alexia Wong). He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Stephen had a long career as a Research Biologist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, University of Massachusetts,Texas A & M University, University of Oxford and the University of Alberta. There will be a celebration of Steve's life in Toronto in September.

  2. So shocked and saddened to see this news about Steve. He is one of the best scientists I’ve ever come across. He was great mentor to me during my stay at Texas A & M. I remember the good-bye party that he arranged for me when I left College Station.

  4. It is with great sadness to receive this news about Steve. I knew him when he worked St Texas A&M University. We communicated via email after he moved to Oxford although not within the last year. Steve was always so very friendly and a great researcher. My thoughts and prayers with his siblings whom he spoke of often.
