Charles, Ian Albert

The family announces with sorrow the sudden passing of Ian Albert Charles on Friday, October 21, 2022, at his residence. Ian was born on June 3, 1975, in Winnipeg Manitoba. He is survived by his mother Sherry Charles (nee Linklater), and his sister Ulrika Burns (Kevin) and was predeceased by his father Albert Charles. He also leaves his children Joshua, Monica, and Cierra Charles and their mother Desiree Larosa, as well as his grandson Xavier. He will be remembered by his nieces Madison, Brittany, Cassie, and Nevaeh as well as his nephew Jayden.

Ian grew up in Manitoba and in his younger years played hockey, a sport he truly loved. He was a self-confessed die-hard Leaf’s fan. He later moved to Marathon, Ontario in his 20’s for work. His children were born, and the family later moved to Sudbury. Ian developed a love and talent for the game of pool and was captain of his team. He excelled at the game and won many tournaments with his team.

He was a funny character, always making his kids laugh. One of their favorite memories is him dancing along on the game “Just Dance” and epically messing up. He was blessed with the best sense of humor and didn’t miss an opportunity to share it with anyone he met.

As per the wishes of Ian and the family, cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date in his hometown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ian’s name directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  2. Ian,
You left us way too soon, you will always be in my memories. The good times we shared, the laughs we had, the many pool championships we won🏆 will never be forgotten. You were one a kind, an original and nobody no matter how hard they tried could ever take that away from you. We were there for each other and you always had my back, for that I am forever in gratitude.
I will miss you my brother, but will never forget the Manitoba Bison.

    With Love,
