It is with great sorrow that the family of Joseph Alcide Chaput announces his passing on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Health Sciences North. Sid was the beloved husband of 63 years to Pauline (Petit) who he married on Valentine’s Day in 1953. He was the father of Karen (predeceased) (Wayne), Susanne, Rose-Ann Armitage (predeceased), Lori-Ann Desrosiers (Joe), Micheal (Janice) and baby Marie (predeceased). Cherished grandfather of Adam, Kevin, Irvine, Jeremy, Mark, Albert, Kai, Chantelle and step-grandfather of Tina (Trevor) and Jason (Sarah). Great granfather of Vanessa, Shea, Eric, Julianna, Joseph and Tanner. Great great grandfather of Michael. Dear brother of Rita Freeland, Verna Sullivan (Dillon) and predeceased by siblings Gerard, Gaberill, Jeannette and Florance. Sid was born to the late Desiree and Aldea (Laurin) Chaput in Capreol on April 13, 1930 and resided there until moving to North Bay in 1988. While he lived in Capreol he was known as the “Bicycle Man” who fixed many bikes. A gifted individual who could take a bike wheel that was bent in half and give it back looking like new. He was also a volunteer fireman for many years. Sid worked for Falconbridge Mines in the Smelter for 31 years. Special thanks to the nurses and PSW at the hospital on 4th, 5th and 8th floors for the care they gave him in the last 2 months he was there. The family would also like to recognize Dr. Mongeon, Dr. Vitalle, Dr. Ravi and the other Doctors who cared for him. A Celebration of Sid’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2021 Wiltshire St., Sudbury where family and friends are welcome after 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.on.ca) would be appreciated.
