BURRELL, Patricia Ann (nee Martin)

Loving Memory of a life well lived and loved. Patricia “Pat”, 79 years, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Health Sciences North following a year and half battle with lung cancer. Predeceased in 2018 by her husband Robert “Bob”, of 56 years. Loving Mother of Wendy Rechanicz (Bob), Doug (Kim), Peter (Sherrie), and Mark (Andrea). Cherished Nanny of 5 grandsons, Ryan, Cody, Colin, Jamie, Jacob and her precious ‘lovebug’ Sophie. Pat was born in Timmins ON, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Winnifred (nee Kerr) Martin. Dear Sister of Gail Kittmer of Elliot Lake and Jim Martin (Marina) of Timmins. Special Aunt to Roxanne (Corey) and their children Jaeden and Reese; Christopher - predeceased; Michael (Debbie) and son McKinley. Pat worked as a secretary at the Hollinger Mine in Timmins until she stayed home to raise her children. The Burrell Family moved to Sudbury in 1971 and for 20 plus years Pat worked as a school bus driver--this was never a job for Pat, she loved the children she transported and the children loved her back. In the year 2000, Pat made the decision to retire her school bus to look after her first born grandson. In the four years to follow, 4 more grandsons were born, and in 2012 her only granddaughter was born. Pat’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Pat enjoyed a life of camping, sitting around a bonfire with family and friends and attending her church activities. Pat’s faith kept her spirit strong. Pat will be missed by her many friends at Calvin Presbyterian Church, by the Stitch and Uplift Group, by Pastor Dan and his wife Susan, and by her fellow school bus drivers. Pat leaves behind a rich legacy of someone who was dependable, caring, and compassionate, who always put others first. Pat’s glass was always half full, she never dwelled on the negative and taught all those around her to always take one day at a time. In keeping with the restrictions around Covid-19, a private family Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory can be made directly to Calvin Presbyterian Church at treasurercalvinchurch@gmail.com.

  6. I still remember my first meeting with my cousin Pat when she came to see the Calgary Stampede along with Ernie, Winnifred, Jimmy, and Gail. I thought that she was a really neat teenager who had time for a dirty faced little brat like myself. Even back in the early 1950’s she looked out for and could relate with children.
I regret that we are not able to join in the celebration of Pat’s life. We are all better for having known and loved her.
