Boyer, Raymond J.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond (Ray) Boyer on Monday, April 27th, 2020, at the age of 75, in his home with his family by his side holding his hand. Survived by his beloved wife and soulmate of 53 years Donna. Proud father of his son Craig (Terri). Cherished Papa to his doll Hanna (Jeff) and Ashley (Predeceased). Dear brother to Gerard (Predeceased), Jeannette (Predeceased), Rita, Suzanne, and Rollande. Special godfather to Brigitte and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by his close circuit of friends and extended family. Born on New Years Day, 1945, in Sturgeon Falls, ON, the oldest of six to Oscar and Florida Boyer (both predeceased). Ray was a well-respected businessman and entrepreneur who touched the hearts of many of his clients in the Sudbury area, starting with Boyer’s Floor and Wall Covering and ending with the company that he passed on to his son, Sunswim Pools. Ray brought Home and Leisure shows to Sudbury and along with his friends Len Gauthier and Omer Gagnon they took a Christmas Lights show on Laurelwood Crt and turned it into the Festival of Lights at Science North. Ray was known for his love of Elvis Presley and could be found at the Elvis Presley Festival in Collingwood every year. He enjoyed growing garlic in his garden, visiting the Ottawa Market with his friend Denis Trudeau, and spending the winter holidays in Florida watching the sunset at Rockaway Grill. The family takes great comfort in knowing he will be reunited with his family and best friends Len and Roy. During his short illness Ray received amazing care and the family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Abdulhusein, Dr. Ibrahim, Dr. Mocanu, and all the nurses and hospital staff at Health Sciences North and the Northeast Cancer Centre. Donations in Raymond’s memory can be made directly to the Northern Cancer Foundation, www.ncfsudbury.com.

  4. I was saddened to read of Ray’s passing. During my wife Henriette’s long stay in the hospital, it was a pleasant break to wheel “Henri” down the hallway to the 2 lounge chairs where Ray would be sitting and to chat with him for a while, and to share my newspapers with him. Usually one or two of you were there as well, unless you had to leave for a minute or two to go to the 5th Floor. (On April 1st, Henri was moved to the Elizabeth Centre, and as you know, there is no visiting allowed there either, so it has been a bit rough). It is a very nice obituary, covering Ray’s life, family, friends and activities. I didn’t know he was a big Elvis fan. We could have talked about that …. or maybe sang about that. I know Ray was taken too soon; but may you find comfort in your many wonderful and happy memories, and the knowledge that he lived a good life, a life that was full, and happy; and that you were there together, every step of the way, sharing it with him, and helping to make it happen. God Bless Ray, and you too. Stan Thomas

Heaven will not be the same now that he has arrived. We’ll have to warn God about some of the pranks he can come up with.

  12. Our deepest condolences to the whole family. We have known the family all our lives. Ray was always available when we needed help with the pool. It was always nice to meet Ray and go over old times on Bond Street since Don’s cousins lived next door. We were both born on Bond Street and Anita was very close to Ray’s sisters. We only have good memories of Ray and know the family will cherish having Ray in their lives for so long. Rest in Peace Ray.
