Bohm, Annemarie

Passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in Sudbury at the age of 84 years.

Predeceased by her parents Johann and Maria Bohm of Austria. Beloved wife of the late Manfred Horst Kretzschmann and former husband, Laszlo Budavari. Loving mother to Raoul Budavari and Anita Ophime. Proud Oma to her grandsons Keegan Budavari and Daniel Ophime. Dear sister of Ute and predeceased by brother-in-law Bertil Henriksson of Sweden. Dear aunt of Reinar Henriksson and Doris Ardvidsson both of Sweden.

Annemarie has been described as focused, intelligent out going, energetic and a “Pioneer Woman” who never lost the love of her birth country, the culture, language and customs.

She came to Canada in 1964 as a newlywed and began a family. Despite the tragedy of a divorce, she remained a single mother for quite some time. She made a beautiful life for her children and worked for many years at the Sudbury and District Children’s Aid Society in the accounting/payroll department until her retirement. Perhaps some of her best qualities made her very good at her job, being steadfast and going out of way to help another in need. Annemarie loved to cook and bake she also had a love of the outdoors tending to her garden. She loved her children and spoke of them constantly with love and pride, she had a deep love for her dogs as well. Her guidance and support through life made us who we are.

  1. My thoughts and prayers go to my cousins Raoul Budavari and Anita Ophime. I met them a couple of times in my childhood, down in Austria at my grandparent’s home; sadly, somewhere along the way, we lost contact. I’ve searched for them over the years on social media but without any luck.

I remember my Aunt Annemarie; I’ve met her a number of times, both as a very young kid and as a grown-up, but I have to be honest, I have only memories as an adult, and I found her hilarious and easygoing person to talk to.
