Bisson, Bernadette

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mom, Bernadette Bisson (nee Collin) on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON at the age of 90 years. Bernadette was born in Cap d’Espoir, Quebec to Emérentienne and Clément Collin (predeceased) and was the last surviving sibling of the 12 children. Wife to Sutton Bisson (predeceased) and beloved mother to Michael Bisson (predeceased), Richard Bisson (predeceased), Andre Bisson (Lucie) and Carole Bisson. Cherished grandmaman to Christian Bisson (Marina) and Nicholas Bisson (Robyn), adoring Gammy to Avelyne and Theodore. Bernie dedicated her life taking care of her family and others. After returning to school in her 40’s, Bernadette became and RNA and a few years later returned once again to complete her RN. Her nursing career spanned over 20 years working both at the Sudbury General Hospital and Laurentian Hospital (currently HSN). She was a very dedicated nurse and even after her retirement continued to help family and others in her community which included volunteering with “Maison la Paix” and the Sudbury Shinning Stars. There are really no words that can capture the impact that her absence in our live will have. She will be incredibly missed. So, when you think of “Bernie”, celebrate the good memories you have of her. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sheridan and her team from the STAT program, and the awesome nurses and staff from HSN Cardiology (8North) and Medicine (6 South) for the care and patience of our mom. Those who knew Bernie, know she hated being fussed over and would rather give then receive. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made directly to the Bernadette Bisson Nursing Program by contacting Cambrian College directly at (705) 566-8101 or by visiting https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E351218QE&id=1 and would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Dear Carole, Andre, Lucie and family, my deepest condolences. Your mother was such a joy to speak with every year at tax time for the past 30+ years. Her eyes would light up when she spoke of her family. She was always especially so proud of her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She was a tiny lady but will leave a huge hole in all of your hearts. May your fond memories of her help you through these difficult times. I’m sure she’s looking down on you right now, and if any are shedding tears, she’s saying, ‘snap out of it!’. Rest in peace beautiful lady, you will be missed!
