BEDNIS, EDWARD

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the age of 89 surrounded by his loving family at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Arleen Bednis (nee Quesnel) for 70 years. Loving father of Darryl (Sandi) both predeceased, Dan (Bev), Glen (Kathy) and Chantelle (Dean). Cherished grandfather of Dana (Mark), Stacey (Shane), Scott (Kathleen), Correy, Robyn (Kyle), Mark (Jacqui), Kirk, John (Denise), Neil (Melanie), Brett and great- grandfather of Colton, Keira, Nicholas, Nolan, Shannen, William, Nathan, Breanna, Oaklyn, Nash, Pearson and Clark. Born in Timmins, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Yamaroz) Bednis. His working career spanned over 35 years as a sales representative with Liptons. He was an active member of the A.C.T. (Associated Canadian Travellers) and the Sudbury Curling Club. An avid dancer and sportsman, Edward in his younger years played Junior B hockey in South Porcupine and was a dedicated fan of his beloved Montreal Canadiens (HABS). A devout Catholic who attended St. Andrew the Apostle Church. What brought him the greatest joys in life was witnessing the many accomplishments of his family, especially the times he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Church after 9:30 a.m. Edward’s final resting place will be at the Civic Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

    We offer you our deepest sympathy. Ed was a wonderful neighbour when we lived across the road from their home. He was helpful, kind, patient and understanding. Do remember the many good times and keep him in your hearts;that’s how you will feel his presence, his guidance. I will pray for you all in this time of sadness for having lost the physical presence of such a great gentleman in your life.
