Barry, Rita Florida Marie (nee Lafleur) 1940-2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Rita at Health Sciences North on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in her 80th year. Beloved wife for 59 years of Alan Barry. Cherished mother of Lorena Gies (William) of Capreol and Scott Barry of Chelmsford. Loving Grandmother and Nanny to Ashley Gies (Roch), Amanda Gies and Great Grandmother of 6 great grandchildren. Rita was born and raised in Cartier by Jean Partiste and Gervette Lafleur, she was the 6th of 21 children. Rita will be sadly missed by her siblings Aline, Rene, Joseph, Alfred, Lucienne, Noella, John, Bert and predeceased by her siblings Lorenzo, Louis, Monica, Gilbert, Paulette, Evelyn,  Edna, Adjutor, Henry, Leo, Paul and Rose. Sister-in-Law of Harold Barry (Valerie), Frances Mac Adams (Wilfred-predeceased), Gayle Rogerson (Ken) and Gordon Barry (Linda). Rita was a licensed prospector and enjoyed the outdoors such as Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Curling, Golf, Slow-Pitch, Softball and singing country music on stage and around the campfire. She will be sadly missed by many friends and extended family members. In keeping with Rita’s wishes there will be no service or visitation at this time, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503, 3 St James St, Onaping for friends and family. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Health Sciences North, Doctors, Nurses and PSW’s who treated Rita with so much Dignity and Respect. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made directly to the Health Sciences North Foundation.

As a result of the Coronavirus - (COVID-19) the Celebration of Rita’s Life that was scheduled to take place on Friday, March 28, 2020 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503 has been postponed until further notice.
