Auger, Richard Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Richard Rafael Auger Jr., age 56 on November 14th, 2021, at Health Sciences North of Covid-19. He was the loved spouse of Sherry Julian. They happily shared the last 11 years together.

Born in Cartier, Ontario on September 9th, 1965, he was the loved son of Richard Auger Sr and Viola Auger. He attended Hanmer high and spent most of his life working for various mining and snowplow companies.

He had a profound passion for music and spent most of his weekends playing lead guitar in a band called Whiskey Runners. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars, and creating new projects. He loved to paint and build things out of just about anything that he could get his hands on. He was the most loving father and friend anyone could ask for. His good sense of humor and fierce personality made for a life well lived and to be remembered as “never a dull moment”. He cared and loved so deeply. Some people might consider his love intense, but it came from a good place. He had the ability to make those he cared about feel safe and secure. Those who knew him were aware of his potential temper/passion and the benefits this had if you were on his good side. He was the kind of man who stepped up to the plate and loved another man’s kids as his own without hesitation. He taught his kids how to ride a bike, fall off and get back up. How not only to cast a fishing rod without snagging a tree but how to make up a good story when you got home empty handed. He also taught them how to fix a flat tire and change the brakes. He showed them how to defend themselves by throwing a decent punch. He taught them values and good morals.  He demonstrated how to make the best out of the smallest things and that it isn’t WHAT you have but WHO you have to share it with. Family is EVERYTHING.  His life lives on through us. Through everyone who cared about him, understood him, and loved him.

He is forever remembered by his spouse Sherry Julian, Children; Joey Auger, Richard Bertin (Shelby Barnes), Kimberley Van Eyk (Ian Van Eyk), Stepchildren; Chelsea Julian, Chantale Turcot, Robert Turcot. Grandchildren; Aiden Van Eyk, Paisley Van Eyk, Calvin Van Eyk, Emmett Courroux, Theo Crow. Sister; Monique Auger (Gilles Sicord), Brother; Patrick Auger. Niece/ God child Stacey Mathiew. Uncle Patrick Therrien (Jane Therrien), Aunt Beatrice Wilson and well-loved dog; Killer.

He was predeceased by his loving wife and mother of his children Therese Gibeault, Grandparents; Aime & Jeanne Therrien, Paul & Therese Auger.

The Celebration of Ricks life will be held next summer 2022 pending covid restrictions. Dates are not yet determined. Instead of donations we know that Rick would like family and friends to consider being vaccinated if they have any health concerns or underlying issues.
