Arsenault, Jacques Fortuna

 July 20, 1926-February 27th, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Jacques “Jack” Arsenault at St. Gabriel’s Villa at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of Lucille (Perreault) (predeceased 2020) of 67 years. Loving father to Diane Lalonde (Fred) of Sault Ste. Marie, Richard of Mississauga, Gilles (Gayle) of Lively, Normand (predeceased), Luc (predeceased) and Daniel (Ruth) of Zurich, Switzerland.

Loving grandfather to Chelsie (Simon), Ian (Teri), Danielle (Dustin), Matte, Lara, and Noel. Great Grandfather to Sebastian, Caspian, Gwen, Winston, and Logan. Jacques was born in Bonaventure, Quebec. He is predeceased by his parents Estelle (Bourdages) and Andre Arsenault. He came from a family of 12; Marius (predeceased) (Jeanine), Camille (Martine), Raynald (predeceased)(Yolande), Lucie-Anne (Claude), Urbain, Lucette (predeceased), Irenee (predeceased), Alban (Suzette), Itha (predeceased)(Gerard), Andrea (John) and Alice.

Jacques came to Sudbury in 1949 where he met Lucille, built their home, and together raised their family.  Jacques retired from Inco 36 years ago as a millwright and mechanic. He enjoyed a retirement full of travel throughout Europe and Central America. Along with his wife, he spent many winters in Florida and summers on Lake Panache. Jack’s garage was a place for neighbours and friends to gather. He was well known for his ability to repair, fix and build almost anything.  He was a largely self-educated man with a passion for reading and learning. We will sincerely miss the knowledge and discussions he shared with family and friends over a glass of red wine.         The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to staff of St. Gabriel’s Villa for their care and support throughout this past year. As per Jacques’ request there will be no funeral service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  2. We were fortunate to have met Jack and Lucille when they came to visit Diane and Fred at Lake Superior. We wish we would have had more time hearing about his travel experiences and his variety of inventiveness. His eclectic interests would equal any post graduate reading list. He was a wealth of information and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and insights.
