Araujo, Ramiro

In loving memory of Ramiro Araujo, 93 years, Friday, January 24, 2020 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Maria Odete for 63 years. Loving father of Margaret Olar (Peter) and Nell Perron (Roger). Sadly missed by his 5 grandchildren, Melanie (Brent), Amanda (William), Joshua (Christina), Carly and Brandon; great grandchildren Eila, Arthur, and Charlie.  Ramiro was born in Fradelos, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1951. He arrived in Nova Scotia, and moved to work throughout southern Ontario, eventually settling in Searchmont/Sault Ste Marie for 42 years. As his children relocated from the Sault, he most recently moved to Sudbury, where he and his wife have lived for the past 16 years.  Ramiro brought to Canada his joy of gardening, with plenty of vegetables to share with his family and neighbours. He also enjoyed winemaking, ensuring that if asked to make wine for a family wedding, that it was done. We will always remember bottling wine with him, as he sampled with a drink or two during the process.  Our family would like to thank the outstanding staff in the emergency room and the nursing staff on the fourth floor of Health Sciences North, for their compassion and kindness. No words can express our gratitude. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St Patrick’s church, 39 Walford Road, Sudbury at 11:00 a.m., a light lunch will be provided following mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are greatly appreciated.
