Ala-Leppilampi, Veikko Antti

It is with heavy hearts we say good bye to our husband, father and grandfather Veikko Antti Ala-Leppilampi, 78 years on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Health Science North in Sudbury. Born in Finland to Ernest and Fanni Ala-Leppilampi on December 20, 1940 he came to Canada in 1967 in search of new opportunities and a better life for his family. He was kind, gentle and above all things honest. He had an immense love for music, travel and the outdoors spending much of his time at his camp on Onaping Lake fishing. He was also a passionate cross-country skier and a competitive marathon runner. He had an exceptional work ethic and took on everything with great SISU. We were blessed and grateful for the time we had with him and will cherish it dearly. A beloved husband of 53 years to Ritva Ala-Leppilampi (nee Vuotila), father to Riitta Ala-Leppilampi (Peter) of Newmarket, Kari Ala-Leppilampi (Maritt) of Toronto and a very beloved grandfather/pappa to John Kerasiotis, Kai Ala-Leppilampi and Nina Ala-Leppilampi. Brother of 8, he will be sadly missed by his sisters Eeva and Martta of Finland, (predeceased by Paavo, Pentti, Mikko, Heikki, Rachel and Ruth) and missed by several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 264 Mackenzie St., Sudbury, Ontario on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:00p.m. All relatives and friends are welcome.
