Quackenbush, Margaret “Peggy” (nee McCauley)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Margaret “Peggy” Quackenbush (nee McCauley), at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born in England to the late Robert and Mary McCauley (nee Bloy). Loving wife of the late Ivan Quackenbush. Beloved mother of Sister Sarah Quackenbush, Harvey (Suzanne) and Robert (Bonnie). Cherished grandmother of Greg (Paula), Carole, Tracy (Adam), Tammy (Stephen) and doting great grandmother of Joey, Kristen, Matthew, Zachary, Madison and Valerie. Loving sister of Dick McCauley (predeceased), Ellen (Remi Gosselin-both predeceased), Joe McCauley (Stella-predeceased) and Mary Saftic (Walter). She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends as well as her long time friend Alice Pennarun. Margaret was an R.N.A for over 35 years with the Sudbury General Hospital and a longtime resident of Garson. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed politics and loved her sports especially baseball, golf and curling. As per her wishes a Memorial Mass will be held at St. John Evangelist Church, 255 Church St. in Garson on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of her life will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Joseph Foundation Sudbury, House of Kin or Maison Vale Hospice would be appreciated.

  3. Sister Sarah and Family, Oh how I will miss having Peggy sitting in my chair seeing her lovely face looking back at me through the mirror as I’m cutting her hair. Without fail Peggy almost always had a dirty joke for me which would leave me laughing hysterically as well as in disbelief that those words were coming from this sweet lady’s mouth. She always said after I finished doing her hair that I had made her day, but the truth be told , she always made my day. She was one of those customers I looked forward to seeing. I am proud to have had the opportunity to come to know her. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
