Sawicz, Jessica

Sudbury, ON - In loving memory of Jessica Sawicz, aged 37, who passed away suddenly on September 2nd from complications related to a rare vascular disorder.  Survived by her partner and best friend Nicole Jones, her parents Michael and Gisele Sawicz (nee Ducharme) and her brother Justin (Lindsay). Beloved granddaughter of Jozef and Lola Sawicz (both predeceased) as well as Joe Ducharme (predeceased) and Cora Ducharme (nee Sarazin). She will be missed by countless loving friends and family members and her two dogs Mabel and Boomer.

Since being introduced to it in highschool, Jessica developed a love of theatre which continued throughout her whole life.  She regularly performed as an actress and stage manager in countless productions with the Sudbury Performance Group.

Jessica always maintained a positive outlook, despite the many health issues that life threw her way.  She had an infectious sense of humour and a roar of a laugh that could light up a room.

She took great pride in her career.  Working as a Project Manager for a design agency, she possessed a relentless work ethic and was well respected by all her colleagues.

A lifelong book worm, the speed with which she flipped through pages was only matched by the speeds she reached on the world’s tallest and fastest roller coasters.  She travelled extensively to theme parks around North America checking countless rides and other thrills off her bucket list like bungee jumping and even a 10,000 foot sky dive with her father (see her sky dive video here: https://youtu.be/ApZRHO_7MR8?si=n87zJ3AaXjpfywlB )

In the summer time when she wasn’t at a theme park, she was almost certainly at a provincial park.  She loved camping and spending time outdoors with friends.

She will be tremendously missed by her family, who will never stop loving and thinking about her.  There will always be a seat saved for her at the breakfast table.

In memory of Jessica, donations can be made to the Sudbury Performance Group via the following link:

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  6. Still in shock from the news of your passing. So many fond memories of our friendship in high school and even as we graduated. In high school you were my best friend whenever i needed advice you were always there. Even as we grew older in adulthood you always had the best advice. I’ll miss your words of wisdom more than anything or just our random talks about how life was going. Having met you and having you in my life for the last 24 years was truly a blessing I wouldn’t trade one second with you but only wish we spent more time together. I’ll miss you forever and always love you Jessie..lol (my dad called you that and you allowed it thanks).

  7. To say this news was heartbreaking and shocking would be an extreme understatement! Jessica was a truly remarkable and magical person who sparkled everywhere she went! She never let anything hold her back and she had such passion for everything she did!!! I am so lucky to have had her as a friend for so many years!!! I will forever miss her coolers full of snacks during tech week, her beautiful hands and smile, her “Lurleen” voice, the chase scene with the squirrel, her laugh that would erupt from her sporadically in rehearsals, and her ability to chase her dreams!! She will forever be missed!!! Jessica, RIP!! You are deeply loved and deeply missed! Heaven definitely gained an angel with a big laugh and an even bigger heart!!! My condolences to her family!!!! Love, her theatre family!!!

  11. Thank you and good bye to a very special human being: equal parts calming, thoughtful, lovely, disarmingly funny. I’ll never forget the lively, creative conversation we had about acting and actors who have the ability to cry on command. You mentioned it was a skill you didn’t have (yet!)… we’re all crying now. You enriched so many lives around you, and I’m grateful to have been lucky enough to be one of them. Sending everyone who loves you much love.
