Marcotte, Dennis

A man of great pride, strength and determination, our dear husband and father, Dennis Joseph Marcotte, 79 years, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, December 29,2025 with family by his side.

Beloved husband of 59 years to Judy (nee Pilatzke) and loving father of Lori (Jason) and Jodi (partner Kevin). Proud Grandpa of David (Mikayla), Nia, Ketani and Hailee. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret Madigan and Gerard Marcotte, as well as his brother Orville. Survived by his brother Larry, and sisters Elaine (Denis), Luanne (Chuck), Marilee (Marc) and dear sister-in-law Margaret (friend Kevin). He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, the Pilatzke family, extended family and friends, especially Tom and Allan.

Dennis was an ironworker welder and proud member of the Ironworkers Local 786 for 58 years. His work took him to countless remote places, and he made many friends along the way, continuing the friendship into retirement with Bob Bertrand. He was meticulous in his work but pleased to mentor a few others. He loved to tell the tales of his workplace adventures and the characters he met along the way.

His favourite place to be, aside from his Lively home, was the Agnew Lake camp. Purchased in 1976, it was only a shell of a building. Over the years, Dennis had many weekends off and whenever there was more time off work, Agnew Lake is where he would go with his girls to make it into a “cozy, comfortable hideaway”. We made so many wonderful memories over 40 years with numerous visitors and helpers with the multitude of projects. We shared many fires and tree-felling with camp neighbour and good friend, Bill Thomson. Sadly, his health did not allow him to spend the time he wanted at his favourite place.

Although diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1998, Dennis was determined to “beat it” which he accomplished even after 3 relapses. His positive attitude always shone through. In recent years, the difficulty of getting to camp was replaced with enjoying the home we built. He went outside daily and always found jobs to do, in preparation for a potential move from our home of 53 years.

In keeping with Dennis’ wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. His final request was to have his ashes spread at Agnew Lake.

The family wishes to give a very heartfelt thank you to the City of Lakes Medical Team, especially Dr. Olsten, for the exceptional care as well as to the Emergency Unit, paramedics, doctors, nurses and personal support workers at HSN for the care, kindness and compassion given to Dennis during his stay there.
