July 4, 1930 – April 12, 2025
In loving memory of Sirkka Airi Kotilehti (Lankinen) who passed away on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at Extendicare York, Sudbury, at the age of 94. Beloved mother of Tarja (Keith), Marjukka (Danny), and Reino (Holly). Cherished grandmother (Mummu) of Derek (Lisa), Darin, Heidi (Jason), Reid (Dana), and Troy (Kayla), and great-grandmother (Iso-Mummu) of Ryan (Kylee), Myranda (Shamus), Austin, Kylie, Donovan, and Leland.
Predeceased by her husband Tauno and her siblings. Special sister-in-law to Teuvo (Kirsti) and Ossie (Ritva predeceased). Much-loved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Sirkka was born in Finland, immigrating to Canada in 1956 with her family, and settling in the Long Lake area of Sudbury. She loved her family, camp (especially the sauna), splittling wood, cooking on her cookstove, her Finnish Senior Choir, birds (except those darn crows and whip-poor-will!), and blueberry picking with her dog Pepper by her side. Mom also loved her flowers, crocheting, and knitting. Her homemade socks were fought-over!
Mom loved helping everyone and was always ready to give hugs – her nickname was “huggy bear”. As per Sirkka’s (Mom’s) wishes, a private celebration of her life will be held at the camp later in the summer – family only, please. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
