Born on September 7, 1933 to Myrtle Edna Purdon and Patrick (Patty) Mousseau. Joyce was the seventh of eight children. She is survived by her sister, Edwina Lea Reolia Lechliner. She was predeceased by her siblings, Glendon Allister, Winfield Maitland, Whitney Franklin, Iona (Toots) Olivine Campbell, Thomas Garfield and Shirley Irene Gaudette.
She joins her loving husband Theron Edward Phillips (married October 9, 1965) and her daughter Linda Joyce Toner (Tennant) in heaven. Joyce is survived by her daughter Christine Ann Phillips (Sean), her son Michael Theron Phillips (Becky-May), and her son-in-law Wayne Toner. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Erica, Logan, Jacob, Staci, Colton, Nathan, Rebecca and her six great grandchildren.
Joyce was a kind and generous woman who loved her family. She was a member of the Powassan United church and was a lifetime member of the UCW (United Church Women). Joyce was a beautiful soprano singer with the church choir and was well known for her incredible baking. She enjoyed many other hobbies and interests outside of her church affiliation such as sewing, playing piano, gardening and spending quality time with loved ones.
Joyce wants to be remembered for the simple joys of life and leaves us with the following poem;
Miss me, but let me go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom field room
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone
It’s all a part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go
