The family announces with sorrow, his death Thursday November 6, 2025, at the age of 63 years. Beloved son of Emily (nee Karpiak) Getchell of Onaping. Predeceased by his father Bill Getchell. Beloved brother to John Getchell (Laurie – deceased 2002), Joanne Martel (Yvon), Ron Getchell (Debbie) and Sharon Dane (Jeff). Loving uncle to Jolene (Peter), Christine (Marc), Valerie (Eric), Shannon (Eric), Scott, Robert, Stephanie (Alex) and Samantha (Jessy). Dan had a special relationship with all his nieces, nephews and siblings. He will be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews and one great great little niece. He will also be missed by his very good friends Tim, Mitch, Mike and Robbie. Danny loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, quading or hanging out in the barn with all his good friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, expecting nothing in return and always stopped to talk to whomever crossed his path. He was a member of Onaping Falls Branch 503 since 1984 and volunteered many hours there. Dan was mom’s care giver for many years after dad passed away in 2004.
His celebration of life will be held at The Onaping Falls Legion Branch 503 on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to The Onaping Legion Branch 503 would be greatly appreciated.
We are very sad to hear of Danny’s passing.

Condolences and just a message for you Dan XO
You were my first crush back in the day Dan and your sister Sharon was my best bud for years. I was so happy to come home in Oct this year and was able to see you and give you a big hug… seeing your mom too was awesome! when you brought that photo upstairs from when we all dressed up for Halloween, that was so special that you had it ready to share 40+ years later – it was a fun memory for sure… you will be missed — when I see you were born Jan 13th so was my bro John AND he passed at 63 Nov 7th, 2023 and my dad Helmut passed at 63 (those synchronicities always get me} – now you guys can all enjoy a drink in heaven – Love you Dan and the Getchell Family – you guys were a big part of my youth and sooooooooo many wonderful memories XOXOX
