It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Houser, who left us peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on August 1, 1945, John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gisele Houser (née Frappier)(2018), and his parents, Harold and Lorraine Houser.
He will be deeply missed by his siblings Fred, Harold, and Barbara; his stepchildren Paul Bergeron, Pauline Gascon, Roger Bergeron, and Diane Gervais as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him much joy. John will also be fondly remembered by his longtime friend Sandy Best, whose companionship and shared love of horses enriched his life.
John retired from INCO in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement years pursuing his passions. A true horse racing enthusiast, he could often be found at Sudbury Downs, lending a hand and cheering on the sport he loved. Around his neighbourhood, John was known for his daily walks—usually accompanied by the quiet enjoyment of a cigar.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical team and staff at Elizabeth Centre for their exceptional care and compassion during John’s final days. He will be forever in our hearts and thoughts, reunited now with his beloved wife, Gisele.
