The family of Denise Grandmaison-Shamess announce her passing on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer at the Maison McCulloch Hospice.
She will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend John Shamess of 26 years, children, John (Paula), Paul (Jennifer), Brigitte (Armand) and Chantal (Brent). Grandchildren, Danny (Chloe), Michael (Hillary), Meagan (Randy), Laura (Mitch), Tyler (Tori), Alexis, Sabrina, Mattia and Cyrus. As well as 8 great-grandchildren. Her sisters Nicole (Pierre) and Suzanne. As well as numerous extended family members and friend.
Denise was predeceased by her parents, Irene Ranger and Paul Grandmaison as well as her brother Normand and niece Crystal.
Travelling brought her joy, and she loved discovering new places, but her favorite destination was always wherever her loved ones were. Family was at the heart of everything she did. Denise made everyone feel special with her warmth, laughter, and endless love.
She was also known for her marathon phone calls — always checking in, sharing stories, or offering her listening ear. Those calls brought comfort and connection to everyone lucky enough to be on the other end of the line. Though her voice may no longer be heard on the other end of the line, her love and laughter will echo in our hearts forever
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Maison McCulloch Hospice and Elliot Lakes Bayshore nurses for their care and compassion.
