Frohlick, Bernard “Bernie”

With heavy hearts, the family of Bernard “Bernie” Frohlick announce his sudden passing on January 18th, 2026. Though his passing came unexpectedly, Bernie leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, and meaningful connections that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Bernie was born in 1946 in Levack, Ontario, arriving into the world at an impressive 15 pounds, a detail that became part of family lore and perfectly suited his larger-than-life presence. He built his life around devotion to his family, his work, and the many people who were fortunate to call him a friend.

At the centre of Bernie’s world was his beloved wife, Linda Frohlick (née McCourt). Their love story began when Bernie was just 14 and Linda 12, and it grew into a remarkable 61 years of marriage, grounded in loyalty, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Bernie was a proud and loving father to his daughters Tracey Frohlick (Lerry Simeoni) and Laura Owens (Mike Owens). His greatest joy came from his role as Grandpa to his grandchildren: Jordan Frohlick (predeceased by Katelane), Tiffany Simeoni (Matt Miron), Jonah Owens, and Kiley Owens (Carter Noble). He absolutely adored his great-grandchildren Abby, Easton, Alyne, Mallory, and Walker and took immense pride in each of them, cherishing every moment spent together.

He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Yvette Frohlick, and his brother Richard (Pauline). Bernie is lovingly remembered by his siblings Bill, Ron (Pat), Dennis (Denise), and Darlene (Ben). He will also be fondly remembered by his extended McCourt family: parents-in-law Red and Ruth McCourt both predeceased, sisters-in-law Susan Benoit (predeceased), Cheryl (Ken), and brother-in-law Tom McCourt (predeceased) (Karen McCourt). Bernie held a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, each of whom he cherished dearly.

Bernie was a friend of Bill W. for 55 years, a commitment he carried with quiet strength, integrity, and compassion, and one that shaped much of the man he was.

A dedicated and hardworking businessman, Bernie spent over 35 years in the used car industry, most notably as the proud owner of Bernie’s Used Cars, where his honesty and warmth left a lasting impression on customers and colleagues alike. He was also the owner of the Summer Kitchen Restaurant in South Baymouth, another chapter that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and love of community.

Outside of work, Bernie found peace and happiness at camp on Lake Manitou, a place filled with treasured memories. He and Linda enjoyed many winters away in the sun and, in earlier years, were avid travellers who embraced new experiences together.

Bernie will be remembered as friendly, supportive, and kind, with an incredible sense of humour that could lighten any room. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and at ease qualities that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

As per Bernie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.  Family and friends will gather at a later date.
