Chauvin, Claude

1956 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claude Chauvin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on August 22, 2025, at the age of 69. Claude was born in Mattawa in 1956 to Robert and Denise (née Groulx), both predeceased. He was raised alongside his siblings Lise (Scott Baylis), Claire, Guy (Francine), Lynne (Dale Comer), and Richard (predeceased).

Claude built a life full of love in Hanmer with his devoted wife of 47 years, Lise (née Goulet). Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Claude was a proud father to Denis and Alain, and a devoted pépère to Ally, Seth, and Abby. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.

A true craftsman at heart, Claude took immense pride in building a home for his family and in the work he did with his hands. Whether it was gardening alongside Lise or constructing beautiful pieces of furniture for his sons, Claude's talent and dedication shone through in everything he touched. He was the neighbour who always lent a hand, helping with decks, home repairs, and anything that needed fixing. His generosity, quiet strength, and willingness to help others left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In his personal time, Claude enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—playing cribbage, spending time fishing, and working through a puzzle.

While we will miss his presence in our daily lives, we will hold his memory close in our hearts. His chair may remain empty, but his love, warmth, and the memories we created will stay with us forever. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Claude's memory.
