Armstrong, Lois Katherine

She Put in a Good Shift!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lois Katherine Armstrong, who died after a short battle with Leukemia at Maison McCulloch Hospice, in Sudbury, Ontario, on August 11th, 2025, at the age of 87.

Lois was the mother of Andy (Sylvie) and Jim (deceased). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Alex, Danny (Victoria), and Madeleine (Nico). Survived by sister-in-law, Gloria (Ron) Sirkka and brother-in-law Kent (Cherry) Armstrong. Predeceased by sister Joan (Ed) Geden and brother Bill (Eleanor) Groom. Will be greatly missed by nieces and nephews, Debbie Fortin, Jeff (Jane) Groom, Glenn (Shannon) Groom, Mike (Grace) Sirkka, Jeff Sirkka, Tim Geden, Tony (Wendy) Geden

Lois was happiest in her own home, occupying her days with word puzzles, games on the iPad, and of course knitting, which she did every day of her adult life. Lois was an avid bridge player and truly took tremendous joy in meeting up with her many lifelong bridge friends. An avid member of Saint Peter’s Church, where she was a member her entire life. Lois adored her grandchildren and enjoyed many summer vacations with them at the family camp. She was sure to be at every Christmas, despite the distance, for 35 continuous years. She will be dearly missed at our home for all Christmases to come.

It was Lois’s wish to not have a funeral service. A small family celebration was held at her home, as per her request.

Any donations can be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice.

Our dear Lois will be remembered with love and missed by all those she touched.

  1. I met Lois in 2002 at the Td Bank on Falconbridge Rd. She was such a lovely lady with such a caring smile. Through the years, I was able to chat with her on occasion in my new role. She always made me smile and our chats were so warm. I am sorry learning of her passing. A special warm person! I will miss her.

  2. My deepest condolences to the family of Lois Armstrong. My home is full of beautiful afghans she knitted and donated to St. Peter’s United Church for fundraising. I have known Lois through St. Peter’s since my family moved to Sudbury in 2007. She was a warm, steady presence with her great smile and deep laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and leaves a legacy of service to others and a joy of life.

  6. Although you’re not supposed to play favourites, Lois was always my favourite Aunt, being my mom’s sister. She was always warm, welcoming and understanding to Wendy, the kids, and I. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and caring were always present whenever we were fortunate to be in her company. She exemplified what it was to be a truly good human being. I will miss her often last comment to me when we parted company each time, which was “now be a good boy!”. We will miss her dearly. They rarely make them like her anymore. Love you, Aunt Lois…… Tony & Wendy Geden.
