In loving memory of Rita Eva Romaniuk (nee Huard), 64 years, who passed away Sunday, November 1st, 2026 at Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury, surrounded by her girls and her one true love. Beloved mother of Lindsey (Ashley), Tracy (J.P.), and Ashley (Thomas), and remembered by their father Marc. Cherished grandmother of Nikolas, Abbigail, Nathan, Leah, Cassidy, Annabelle, Desiree, and Denis-Amari. Dear daughter of Aurelien and Eva Huard both predeceased. Loving sister of Robert (Doreen), Clement (Annette), Leo (Marie), Marcel (Jocelyne), Edmond (Lorraine), Aurel, Germain (Wendy), Gilbert (Nancy), Linda (Nino), Denise (Chris), and Evelyn. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Rita will be missed by many friends, especially at the Towers, and by her precious dog, Foxy.
Rita will be remembered for her love of country music, family get-togethers, playing cards, especially crib and euchre, and her passion for bingo. Rita’s absolute pleasure was being Nana to her treasured grandkids, and they will always remember her love of spoiling them at Christmas and other holidays. We will cherish the many knitted gifts she made especially for us. If you knew Rita, you know that she was feisty, independent, motivated, hard-working, and a strong-willed warrior. She will be immeasurably missed by her three daughters, but her zest for life, her guidance, and the laughter we shared will stay with us forever. We are better and stronger women thanks to the lessons she taught us and the values she instilled in us, which carries forward now that we are mothers ourselves.
The family wishes to thank the March of Dimes, the staff of Health Sciences North, especially Dr. Ravi Singh, and the nurses, doctors, and staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their care and compassion.
A celebration of Rita’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14th, 2026 from 1pm-4pm, at All Nations Church, 414 St. Raphael St., Sudbury, where friends and relatives are invited to join the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated (click here).

Auntie Rita,
We miss you. We love you.
I’m so thankful for the many memories we shared together.
My most fondest memories are from my childhood, spending all holidays together. You made Christmas magic like no other!
I’m proud to be your God Daughter, and proud you are my God Mother.
Thank you for being a shining example of being the hardest worker I know,
instilling family values in all of us and always giving me a haircut on a dime!
We love you so much and miss you more than you’ll ever know. I thank God we were able to say goodbye to you and kiss you and hug you.
Je taime matante Rita, beaucoup, beaucoup, beaucoup!
Love always,
Yolanda, Cynthia, Linda, Nino, Ryder, Gracie, Geoffrey, Dina & Rome.
