In the early morning hours of October 19th, 2026 we said goodbye to a beloved husband, Dad, Papa, and friend, Endel Thomas Ottokar (Tom), who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North, just shy of his 80th birthday.
Born in post-war Hanover, Germany, Tom came to Canada with his mother, Zina, later reuniting with his father, Henry, on their poultry farm in Massey, Ontario. It was there he met his wife, Marilyn, raised a family, and formed lifelong friendships. He worked as a stationary engineer with E.B. Eddy and Domtar until retiring in 2006, after which he spent his days boating on the North Channel and cherishing family time.
A man of deep integrity, warmth, and quiet generosity, Tom gave back tirelessly serving as Fire Chief for Spanish River Township, sitting on Massey Town Council, and helping anyone in need. Above all, he loved his family unconditionally and gave the absolute best hugs.
He is deeply missed by his wife, Marilyn (Calvert); children, Angie and Chris (Tammy Tremblay); grandchildren, Ashton (Kyanna), Chloe, Zendel, and Mazie; great-granddaughter, Azina; extended family; and many dear friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please honor Tom by helping someone in need, spending time with family, enjoying the water, or simply being a good person.
