February 3, 1944 – October 10, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jennie Marie Mouland (née Anstey) at the age of 82. Jennie passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron, surrounded by her husband, daughter, and loving family.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Ralph Mouland, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was a loving mother to Trudy Bridge (Jason) and Maurice Mouland (predeceased), and a treasured Nan to Zachary, Riley (Kaitlin), Kailey (Jacob), and Mia (predeceased).
Jennie was the daughter of Chesley and Elva Anstey (both predeceased) and daughter-in-law of Dolph and Maude Mouland (both predeceased), all from Newfoundland. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Bonnie (Ray), Betty (Ivan, predeceased), Brian (predeceased), Kevin (predeceased) (JoAnn), Scott (Janice), and Wayne (Naida); brothers-in-law Leo (Louise) and Harry (predeceased) (Anne); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Originally from the small town of Springdale, Newfoundland, Jennie became a teacher and eventually found herself in Ralph’s hometown, where their love story began. They married, started their family, and later decided to move to Sudbury, Ontario. After raising their children, Jennie and Ralph enjoyed retirement, travelling, and being very involved grandparents. They shared a wonderful life filled with lasting memories that Ralph will cherish forever.
Jennie was a very special person to everyone who knew her. Her big smile, warm hugs, and motherly nature will always be remembered. No matter who she was with, she was always ready for a good time. Jennie loved camping, playing the piano, singing, knitting, and solving Sudoku puzzles.
One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren do what they loved. Whether it was Zachary drumming, Riley playing hockey, or Kailey dancing, Nan was always their biggest cheerleader. Her grandkids were the light of her life, and there was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She affectionately called them all “Nan’s Angels” and took immense pride in each of them and their accomplishments. Her absence will leave an incredible void in our lives, but we find comfort in knowing that she is now our angel watching over us.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Elizabeth Centre’s fourth-floor unit and Dr. Joseph for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Jennie during her time there. The comfort and support provided by the entire team over Thanksgiving weekend will never be forgotten.
We would also like to thank her church family and friends at The Salvation Army for welcoming Jennie with open arms. She was incredibly proud to be a Salvation Army soldier, and your friendship and fellowship meant so much to her.
A special thank you to her best friends, Linda and Glen Parker and Bernice and Lloyd Harris, along with her sister Betty and brother Wayne, for your continued love, care, visits, thoughtful treats, and, most of all, for always reminding Jennie just how loved and special she truly was.
Jennie, you will never be forgotten. We know that the love you gave and the beautiful memories you leave behind will long outlast the pain and grief we feel today. We can only imagine you smiling and dancing in heaven, embracing your family once again, and finally resting in peace. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Sudbury Community Church, 107 Lorne Street, Sudbury, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to The Salvation Army Sudbury Community Church or the Alzheimer Society Sudbury.
