Pagan, Eddy Guido

September 11, 1940 – September 2, 2026

We are very sad to announce the passing of our father Eddy Pagan.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Patricia Pagan (predeceased 2017). Loving father of Colleen (Dave Mayes) and Greg Pagan (Anne Cameron) (Tracey predeceased 2009). Special Nonno to MacKenzie Mayes (fiancé David Manson) and Sam Pagan.

Son of Luigi and Maria Pagan both predeceased and son-in-law of Reginald and Margaret Rippon both predeceased.  Dearly loved brother of Bruna Gauthier (Paul) both predeceased, Louisa Zanatta (Severo predeceased), Evelyn Midena (Vico predeceased), Norman Pagan (Diane), Ronnie Pagan (Carol) both predeceased, and brother-in law of Bernice Turcotte (Lorne) both predeceased, and Elizabeth Oman (Bob) both predeceased. Special uncle Eddy to many nieces and nephews who had a special place in his heart, and he will also be missed by his longtime friend Sandi Cecutti.

Eddy was born and grew up “Up The Hill” in Copper Cliff. He was the youngest of “The Pagan Clan”. A proud Italian with a long-standing membership at the Copper Cliff Italian Club and the Copper Cliff community as a whole. From a young age he was a sportsman playing hockey for the Copper Cliff Redman and baseball for the Gatchell Cardinals, notably a left-handed catcher. We have a scrap book full of memorabilia from this time.

He started working for Cecutti’s Bakery at 16 years old. Delivering door to door in Gatchell and the West End, he was the “Bread Man”. So many people knew our father from this time. He was a top salesman and his customer service and personality always shown through. He worked here for 48 years and later in life worked for Golden Grain Bakery, drove school bus, and delivered parts for Nickel City.

No matter what kind of party, Eddy always showed up with rolls, specialty desserts, and his big Smile!

Eddy was a hands-on father who always volunteered at our school when we were growing up. They usually gave him the “bad boys” to take skating or play ball with at Adamsdale. Everyone loved Mr. Pagan.

He coached every team that Greg played on and was always in charge of our outdoor activities including Sledding, blueberry picking, skating, baseball and whatever else we could think up.

Whenever weather was bad, he would pick us and some of the neighbour kids up at school - pack us into the station wagon and spin us around the neighbourhood.

Our Monday lunches were famous. He would pick us up and take us to Deluxe Hamburgers on the Kingsway. It was a drive up only back then and place your order. Three hamburgers (mustard only), three fries (vinegar and salt only) and three Pepsi. I kid you not!!

He loved being a Nonno. He spent every Friday night out for supper with Nanny and Kenzie usually at Gus’ restaurant sitting in the same booth. They enjoyed blueberry picking and playing Krazy Eights together, usually late at night with a lot of competition! She won the final game last week. He loved to watch Sam play hockey and their fishing trips and especially enjoyed his Sunday afternoon visits with him at Pioneer. He was so very proud of all their accomplishments and often commented on where they got those brains from.

Eddy and Pat had a very social life and enjoyed dancing, bowling, and Bocce ball in Copper Cliff. It was not unusual for them to drop in for a visit on a Sunday afternoon or anytime really. Monday nights with the Forcier’s to shake the can for their weekly lottery tickets. They shared many Rum and Pepsi. He loved to camp in Gogama where he got to fish, pick blue berries, have campfires, play Krazy Eights, eat salami, capocollo, buns (no butter), olives and drink beer. He loved to share this with friends and family over the years.

He also loved to travel. Warm trips in the cold months with friends and family, Blue Jay games were a favorite and summer junkets to St. Catharines, St. Jacobs, Traverse City and Saginaw Michigan, New York many times to visit Pam and Lou and catch a hockey or baseball game. It didn’t really matter, when we were travelling, he was coming along!

One of Eddy’s best qualities was his happy outlook on life. He always had a smile on his face and a story or bad joke to tell. The last couple of years he has had many medical challenges, but he took everything in stride and continued on. I swear that man had 9 lives!

Pioneer Manor has been his home for the past 4 years, and we would like to thank all the people who have taken such good care of him. He loved to play bingo and bocce and tell stories. He kept his PSW’s Sandi and Ginette entertained. They took such special care of him, and we will always be so grateful for that. Thank you Thank you!!

So many of you meant so much to our dad and if he had won the lottery, he really was going to take you all to Bermuda. Park Place would have been cleared out for a week!

We will miss you Dad, you meant so much to so many people. We couldn’t go anywhere without someone knowing the Cecutti Bread Man.

I’m sure Mum is happy to have you back.

A Celebration of Eddy’s Life will be held at a later date.

Raise a beer or a Rum and Pepsi and tell a funny story in remembrance of dad, I know you all have one.
