It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing Lynda Anne (Haert) Prevost on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026 at the age of 78 at HSN, surrounded by her loved ones, after a brief battle with cancer.
Lynda was the beloved wife (Sweetheart) of Gilbert Prevost, (predeceased). And the cherished mother of Heather Cheredaryk (Paul) and her adored feline Buttercup. Born in Sturgeon Falls, raised in Sudbury, she was the eldest of seven children born to Raymond and June (Maki) Haert. (both predeceased)
There will be an enormous void in the lives of her siblings Debbie and Larry, (Bradley) Leon (predeceased) Wayne and Liette, Vicki and Ray, (Deganais) Tracy and Carol, Joann and Bruce (Warner). Sisters and brothers, Haert Strong, no such thing as in-laws. Also survived by her stepsons Jean Paul (Andrea), Robert and their children.
She will be very fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends with whom she created many beautiful memories.
Lynda was a dedicated Executive Assistant at the Royal Bank for over 30 years retiring in 2004. In the earlier years, Lynda and her partner Andy (predeceased) spent every weekend and holidays at their camp at Lake Agnew. Treasured times for sure. After Andy’s passing, she sold the camp and moved to the Valley.
In the last 15 years, Lynda met and married Gil. She and Gil loved playing guitar and singing together. They enjoyed their 5th wheel, attending country jamborees, as well as travelling the West and the Yukon. When travelling was done, they settled down to camp on the Ottawa River with family and friends at their favourite spot in Thorne. Fishing, campfires, great food and playing music was the theme. Music was one of her greatest pleasures, and we loved listening to her sing.
Lynda was never idle. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, games, and especially cards (mostly for money). She looked forward to Senior Sundays with the family and card games with her nieces. Wednesday was Sequence with Deb and Larry, while Friday was “tea” time with Heather and Paul. We all knew, her favourite tea was a Merlot.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fredette and Angie, Dr. Singh, Dr. Falk, and special thanks to the nursing staff at HSN 4 North for their care and enormous compassion. Their kindness and dedication were endless. We appreciate you.
In keeping with Lynda’s wishes there will be no service. A private family celebration has been held.
The pain may lessen as time goes by, but for us the memories will never dim.
