Stephen, Bernard

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernie Stephen on April 3rd, 2026 after he lost his battle with cancer.

Beloved husband to Kim Hyatt, and cherished father of Bruce Stephen and Krista McNaney (Mike). Sadly missed by his twin sister Bev Tulloch (Dar), and younger sister Karen St. Onge (Don); his nieces Sherra and Chantal and nephews Stephen, David, and Bradley (predeceased); as well as many cousins and countless friends.

Born in Sudbury to George and Lily (Lewis) Stephen (both predeceased), he grew up in Dowling. After working at INCO for 35 years, he retired in 2003.

Bernie loved hunting with his buddies, which was an event he looked forward to. An avid outdoorsman, his summers were spent at the camp in Bisco, enjoying fishing and the surrounding nature. Winters were spent in Florida to “get away from that white stuff”.

Bernie was always very generous and willing to give a helping hand to whoever needed it. Making friends wherever he went was his special gift. He loved meeting new people and sharing stories with them. Always the life of the party, he will be deeply missed by his many friends in Bisco and Florida, who have become more like family to us. I’m sure stories of Bernie will be hold for many years to come. You will be forever in our hearts.

Special thank you to the staff of 4 North at HSH, and also to the amazing staff at the hospice for the care he received – your compassion goes above and beyond.

As per Bernie’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. A celebration of his life will follow at a later date.
