It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Noble, who left this world peacefully on December 9th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones during the final days of his life.
Rick was truly extraordinary. He was a thoughtful, selfless, and charismatic man who was deeply respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived a life defined by quiet strength, integrity, and remarkable generosity. A man of his word in every sense, when Rick said he would be there, he always was - dependable, present, and on time. His life was devoted to caring for others, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, all of whom he adored, and they him. He gave endlessly, offering wisdom, patience, guidance, and unconditional love.
At home, Rick was the heart of the family. He made school lunches for his children, then his grandchildren, and later even his great-granddaughter. To this day, his grandson still enjoyed daily lunches made with the same care and love. Classmates and coworkers alike were envious of the sandwiches he crafted with pride, and whenever he brought lunch to his daughter at work, he made extra for others, because that was simply who he was.
Rick was the ultimate teacher. He taught his family how to golf, skate, ski, read, shoot a puck, throw a ball, do math, and even how to properly hold a fork. He also taught them how to be considerate, polite, and well-mannered. Most importantly, Rick taught them how to navigate the world when they left home and how to be a good person. If you learned something valuable in life and Rick was part of your world, chances are he taught it to you. He also shared his knowledge beyond the family, teaching a Power Squadron course for ten years. Rick retired at age 56 after more than 30 years with the Sudbury Board of Education, where he proudly served as Manager of Transportation.
Rick had many passions. He loved golfing, skiing, boating, (which he taught himself at 41), cooking, baking, playing cards, and taking long walks. An avid reader, he spent countless hours immersed in books and enjoyed keeping his mind sharp. He also loved playing Trivial Pursuit with his grandchildren, never failing to amaze them with how many answers he knew.
Rick shared 57 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Joan, who predeceased him in 2021. Following her passing, Rick’s grandson Michael was fortunate to work from Rick’s home for nearly four years. During that time, they became best buds and closest companions, an irreplaceable bond that Michael will forever cherish.
Rick lived a full and abundant life surrounded by family and friends. He maintained an incredible sense of humour right up until the very end. He believed he had lived through the greatest era and left this world with no regrets.
Rick leaves behind his daughters Lisa (Bill) and Kari (Rick); his grandchildren Breanna, Kelsey (predeceased), Spencer, Michael (Katrina), Richard (Petranella), Cameron (Jenni), and Dextin (predeceased); and his great-granddaughter Kylie. He will be deeply missed, and all who loved him are profoundly grateful for the time they were given with him.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their compassionate care and unwavering support during Rick’s final days. We are incredibly thankful for the comfort they provided. In honour of Rick’s memory, donations to the hospice are welcomed and appreciated https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/
We love you.
GO HABS GO!

My sincere condolences to Rick’s family; you have lost one of the most honest and fair people I have dealt with. As a private school bus operator in the Sudbury area, I had the privilege of meeting with Rick every year to go over our yearly bus runs, and was always amazed of how much knowledge and understanding he had about every run in the city. He was always extremely fair and understanding, and I always looked forward to a conversation with him each year. I wish I could have got to know him better. My father, Kurt, passed away this June, and he often spoke of Rick as being one of the nicest guys he has ever dealt with.
Our condolences go out to you, from everyone at our former company, Ruby Bus Lines. Rick, may God bless your family and give them peace.

My condolences to the family. For a 5 year period prior to Rick’s retirement I had the pleasure of working for him as one of his school bus operators. Always appreciated his kindness and fairness. I remember how incredibly organized he was and often marvelled at how he could keep so much detailed information in his head. Sadly, I never got to see him again as I moved away from the Sudbury area.

Sincere condolences to Rick’s family. I knew him briefly at the school board where I worked briefly after high school. However , He and my Dad Ron Groves worked together for many years and I know that he held Rick in very high regard and considered him a good friend.

Rest in peace buddy. I got to know Rick later in life, bowling and golfing. I will always remember our golfing trips in the spring time, and when we would stop for breakfast, Rick would order toast and would want it toasted as black as they could get it.

Hello Liza and Kari,
Rick and I were lifelong friends through elementary and secondary schooling. We enjoyed all the sports together and kept in touch with our respective family growth. Your description of his nature and contributions are a wonderful testimony.
Jack, I think of our many times together, on the golf course, delivering papers, sharing stories. Hope you are well and still striking the ball with accuracy! Stay well.
Love to all family members,
Ron and Elizabeth Hansen
