Dubreuil, Nancy

In loving memory of Nancy Dubreuil (née Matiation) who passed away on December 12th, 2025 at the age of 73 at Health Sciences North. Nancy’s final moments were a reflection of how she lived, surrounded by the love, warmth, and humour of her family and close friends.

Loving mother to Jenny Dubreuil (Rob Bignucolo) and Dale Dubreuil (Kristen) who she raised with her best friend Bob Dubreuil (predeceased 2023) in the heart of Carol Richard Park since 1976. Cherished Nana to Ava, Lily, Ty, and Lexi, who inherited her kindness, humor, vigour, and loving heart.

Daughter of Olga and Andy Matiation (predeceased in 2015 and 1996) and sister of Sally (Randy Lush), Cathy (Rick Bilinski), Michael (predeceased 1976), and Bobby. Special Golden Girl with Sheila Domonsky, Diane McFarlane, and Viv Mullen, and bonus Mom and Nana to friends who she treated like family.

Nancy was a talented quilter and seamstress who loved her friendships at King Sportswear. In her sewing room hung a quote that captured Nancy’s spirit, “the meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away.” Her friends, family, and neighbours were blessed with Nancy’s beautiful handmade quilts, holiday decor, dress alterations, and personalized hats to mark special milestones.

Nancy’s gift was also her ability to connect with people and make them feel special. This gift is so present in Jenny, Dale, Rob, and Kristen’s warmth, humour, and the way they show up for people. We see it in the way Ava, Lily, Ty, and Lexi cherish friendships and approach life with confidence, creativity, and generosity.

Nancy’s door was always open for deep conversations, hearty laughs, good food, a game of euchre, and she was always ready to cue up one more song and make room for a dance floor. Nancy was a loyal fan of the Blue Jays, Canadian curling, Track North, Lo-Ellen Park SS, Sudbury Cubs, Northern Chill Volleyball, and Sudbury Lady Wolves.

To honour Nancy’s life, please perform a random act of kindness for a friend this holiday season. Also think of Nancy and the good care that she received with a gamble in the HSN 50/50.

Jenny and Dale would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Health Sciences North, 4th floor North for their support and compassion.

Family will gather to remember Nancy’s life during her favourite holiday, Christmas in July.

She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future. Proverbs 31:25

  3. Jenny, Rob, Ava, Lily, and Dale, Kristen, Ti, Lexi,
It was hard enough accepting a world without Bob and his jokes, but a world without Nancy and that smile and energy is nearly unbearable. I’m glad you found the perfect picture of her, I’m assuming in Hawaii last Christmas, and I hope you will find some comfort in wonderful memories of all she did for you, her beloved family, and the special times you spent together. We will all miss her very very much.

  5. From the moment I met Nancy, I knew we were going to become “Besties” forever. Nancy is my husband George’s first cousin. From our first hello, I immediately loved her! When our daughter Becky was born, Nancy and Bobby became her Godparents and, they blessed us as their son Dale’s Godparents. For many years we would drive to their home after Christmas to party in the New Year! Driving from Toronto to Sudbury in the winter wasn’t always the smartest choice, but it was always worth it! When Bobby passed suddenly, our family was devastated. Nancy showed amazing strength as did Jenny, Dale & their families. It was beautiful to see their many friends and families support for Nancy and the kids. During life’s challenges, Nancy’s kindness & strength has been her superpower. I will always cherish the beautiful quilt Nancy (the quilt Queen) made for me. It will forever feel like a warm hug from her each time I wrap it around myself.
Nancy, my beautiful friend, our family will miss you forever. Give Bobby a big hug from all of us. Jenny and Dale, we send love and many hugs to you and your families from ours,
Sharlene, George, Jacob Kopetski & Becky, Daryl, Gabby & Moira Cyr

  9. Dear Jenny & Dale,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom.
    Nancy is truly unforgettable.
A gift to those who were fortunate enough to know her or cross paths with her.
I have many fond memories of your mom – especially those of the winter road trip from Sudbury to Edmonton all those years ago. Your parents were both so open and warm – an real little adventure for me that I still cherish all these years later.
Sending our love to you and your families.
