It is with deep sorrow that we share the unexpected passing of Richard (Rick) Castonguay, at the young age of 62.
Rick was a loving father to Aaron (Adeline), Michela (Micheal), Regan (Sarah), and Joel (Sheree). He was a devoted Pepere to Declan, Raiden, Eamon, Donovan, Lillithbeth, and a grandson on the way. He was the cherished son of Germain and Rita(predeceased) Castonguay, and a beloved brother to Colette (Tammy), Claude (Carole), and Lynne (Marcel).
Rick was a loving friend and brother of the heart to Mike and Monique Gauvin, as well as to many friends who held a special place in his life. He was Mononcle to Corey, Tarran, Steven, Janelle, Melanie, and Matthieu, and to countless others who knew and loved him as their “Mononcle Rick”. It brings us comfort knowing he is once again dancing among the heavens with his one true love, his late wife Jeanne Castonguay.
Rick was a proud father who never missed a chance to celebrate his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when hunting, fishing, or simply spending time with loved ones under the open sky. Among friends and family, he was known as the one who always caught the fish—and the deer. Whether out on his boat, sitting for hours in his tree stand, or sharing laughs and a rye with neighbors and friends at the cottage, Rick found peace and joy in nature. Each fall, he devoted his time to the hunt camp he shared with his father and close family, where his presence will be deeply missed this season and for many to come.
Rick poured his heart into his work as a bodyman, and his craftsmanship shone through in the many classic vehicles he restored. A hard worker who never slowed down, he still always found the time to lend a helping hand. He was a patient mentor to coworkers, proud of his trade, and a positive force in every shop he worked in. His Lockerby Taxi family will miss his humor, guidance, and camaraderie—he spoke often and warmly of the friendships he made there.
Rick was the kind of man who left an impression on everyone he met. He loved to dance, laugh, and light up a room with his infectious spirit. His sense of humor, generosity, and boundless love for those around him made every gathering brighter.
Though his time with us was far too short, Rick’s energy, laughter, and love will live on in the stories we tell, the lessons he shared, and the many hearts he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
