May 28, 1935 – August 27, 2025
Glenda Tappenden passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at 5:15 AM at Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury, Ontario, at the age of 90.
Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Glenda was the beloved daughter of Robert and Evelyn Pitcaithley. She was a cherished sister to Marlene and the late Bobby.
Glenda devoted her life to helping others, spending 25 years working at a women’s addiction and counselling center, where her compassion and strength guided countless lives toward healing. After retirement, she embraced her most treasured role as a grandmother, becoming the heart of her family and a source of endless love, support, and laughter.
She leaves behind her loving children, Bob (Jo) and Lisa (Marc), and her five adored grandchildren: Jennifer, Curtis, Kaitlin, Jessica, and Daniel. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family, and will be missed dearly by her friends and colleagues of WYSIWYG’s (What You See Is What You Get). Glenda held a deep love for animals and will be missed by her beloved fur-friends Luna, Maple, Winslet, and Lupo.
A woman of quiet faith and deep kindness, Glenda was devoted to Calvin Presbyterian Church, where she found spiritual strength and lifelong friendships. She cherished every moment she spent at Round Lake, especially peaceful mornings and golden evenings in her beloved gazebo. It was her second home where she shared countless memories with her family and neighbours who became like family.
Glenda’s life was a testament to service, grace, and unwavering care for others. Her favourite passage, Psalm 23, speaks to the peace she brought to those around her and the peace she now rests in.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:6
Details regarding a memorial service will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
