Turpin, Gaetane (Gay) (née Belanger)

With much sadness we announce that Gaetane (Gay) Turpin (née Belanger), much loved wife of 50 years to the late Gerald Turpin, went to be with the Lord at 95, Sept. 21, 2023.  Gay will be lovingly remembered by her children Gisele Gallie (Terry), Robert Turpin, granddaughter Maggie and cat Malibu.  She is survived by her sisters Monique Hachey, Michelin Ethier and her sister-in-law Gloria McGarvie.

Gay was born March 2, 1928 to Adrian and Evelyn Belanger in Chelmsford, Ontario.  As a young woman she left her hometown to move to Sudbury to make her way in the world.  Gay was employed at the Sudbury Courthouse and promoted to Junior Deputy Sheriff.  In 1961 and 1968 respectively, Gay and Gerry opened their home to adopt Gisele and Robert to fulfill their dream of becoming parents.  In her senior years she worked as a Court Clerk to Judge Uno and Stats Canada.

Gay was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid chef, seamstress and gardener, who adored opening her home to family and friends.  Smart and honest, unfailingly industrious, and loving a good laugh, Gay will be dearly missed.      A special thank you to Linda and Sara from the Palliative Care Team along with the PSW's (Carin) from Bayshore, along with our cousin Lisa. Your tireless efforts to ease Gay's transition will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to Maison McCulloch Hospice https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/.  There will be a private service.
