Valentine, Mark

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mark Joseph Valentine at the age of 50 years on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband and best friend of Melissa Stevens. Devoted father to his girls, Mikayla and his twins Holly and Lindsay. He was one of the most kind and caring people who loved his wife and children more than anything in the world. He taught his girls how to ride their bikes, snowmobile, swim, and so much more. Dear son of Peter (predeceased) and Margaret (Moore) Valentine of Norland, ON. Cherished brother of Scott (Heather – predeceased), Lorie (Tom) Reddering. Loving uncle of Dan, Jack, Conar, Nicole, Hanna and Rachael. Mark could fix anything, build anything and do it better than anyone. He spent 25+ years working for INCO/VALE as a Millwright. Anyone who worked with Mark loved him just like his family and friends. He was the first one to jump in and help anyone who was in need, whether it was visiting a neighbour in the hospital, cutting someone’s grass, loaning someone money (even if he barely had enough himself), taking a van-load of kids to dance, skating, soccer, or anywhere else they needed to go. He loved snowmobiling with his friends and his daughters. He also loved to spend time in Haliburton at his Mom’s house on the lake, swimming and driving the boat for the girls to ski and tube. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and the world is a little darker without him here. Even in death, the donation of many of his organs has saved lives and will continue to help sick children and people in a variety of places. In keeping with Mark’s wishes, there will no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his name to the Cardiovascular Thoracic ICU Centre at Health Sciences North.

  2. The kind of man Mark was is reflected in his beautiful girls and their amazing spirits. I will always be grateful for the time our children were able to spend with Mark. His kindness, patience and love for them touched my heart. It always amazed me that such a big man could be such a softie with my youngest daughter…she actually calls him “my Marky”. Thank you Mark for loving them and helping to shape who they are. You will be deeply missed. Melissa and girls, we have no words. Just know that we love you and are here for you. We are very sorry for your loss.

  5. Mark was one of the nicest guys I have ever met, when I had to go to Sudbury to do some work on The Silver City Theatre I stayed there and Mark and Melissa treated me just like family. The times we all spent at the lake were priceless. I have amazing memories from the lake and Scott and Heather’s house. My heart just aches for Melissa and the girls as Mark was a great husband and wonderful father to those beautiful girls. I pray that the wonderful memories of Mark will give them some kind of peace. I love you buddy and you will be truly missed by all.

  11. We are saddened by the sudden loss of Mark. Truly him described in the obituary. He will surely be missed at work. I had tears reading and will be greatly missed by many of the raisebore and diamond drill department. May you find happiness and joy knowing that he made an impact and quality of his work and life he lived. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.
