Spec, Ruth

Peacefully on December 13, 2017 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, Ruth Spec (nee Johnston) passed away in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Spec (1983). Daughter of the late Hugh and Ellen (nee Sheffer) Johnston. Cherished mother of Michael Spec (Maureen) and Greg Spec (Karen). Proud grandmother of Kevin Spec (Melissa), Robert Spec (Bonnie), Shannon (Randy), Alaina (Chris) and great grandmother to Nathan, Brendan, Ella, Kinsey, Landon, Nolan and Aleigh. Dear sister of Doreen Niven, predeceased by Walter, Hugh, George, Stewart, Edward, and Robert. Friend and special sister-in-law to Audrey Johnstone of Markham. Ruth began her career working in the banking industry, she went on to raise her family and then worked part-time up until her eightieth year as the bookkeeper for the family business, Spec and Sons plumbing. Ruth was a devoted member of the church of the Epiphany, where she volunteered countless hours to the church, she was member of the Altar Guild, and the ACW Guild. Ruth enjoyed knitting, sewing, craft works and rewarded her family with hand crafted sweaters and afghans. Ruth will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends. At Ruth’s request there will be no visitation. Interment in Park Lawn, Cemetery, Sudbury.

    Eveleen & I are so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It’s been many years since I first met her and your dad up at your family camp on Fairbanks. But I remember them as being welcoming and kind people. We wish you and your growing family all the very best of health and happiness for Christmas and all through the new year.

  3. Michael, Greg and families: so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I will always remember the times we spent at Fairbanks Lake with your Mom and Dad. I will remember your Mom as a kind, generous and welcoming person who was a great neighbour to my Mom and grandparents on Baker Street. May she rest in peace
