Barbara Ronson McNichol - died suddenly and tragically on March 22, 2017. Beloved wife of Clyde McNichol and mother of Kimberly, Jacqueline (Matthew Myres) and Jamie Ronson (Hugo-Pierre Gagnon). Sister of Edwin, Pat and Carolyn Guillet. Daughter of Helen Bircher Guillet and the late James Edwin Guillet. Barbara devoted the last years of her life to Camp Eagle Nest, a non-profit she founded and ran with Clyde to provide Northern Ontario youth with wilderness opportunities grounded in First Nations culture. She was a passionate activist who fought with her husband to save forests from logging on his ancestral lands near Benny, Ontario. A short outdoor ceremony will be held in Benny at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday March 26, 2017, followed by a potluck reception at 65 Spencer Street in Cartier, Ontario. A memorial service also will be held at Metropolitan United Church, 56 Queen Street East, Toronto on Wednesday March 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., reception to immediately follow the service. A burial will be held at a later date.
