Robert Douglas Dollar January 25, 1918 – May 25, 2016

Passed away peacefully in the Mindemoya Hospital May 25, 2016. Robert, commonly known as Bob, was husband to his late wife, Margaret Dollar, and father to his late daughter, Penny Chandler (Dollar), and is leaving his legacy of faith and love through daughter, Susan McGee (Dollar), and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert was born in Baysville, Ontario, and was married to late wife and love of his life, Margaret, for 61 years. Robert was loved dearly by his family and friends and it was evident that he loved them too. He was a patient and kind father, a hard worker and provider, and a man strong in faith.

Robert worked as a train conductor for 39 years and it was one of his greatest joys. Robert was a gifted carpenter and often used his talent to bless others.

Until the end of his days Robert was anticipating his reunion in heaven with his beautiful late wife and daughter, but most of all with his Lord and Saviour, who he served faithfully for over 70 years. Robert's life is a testament to what he believed: “The Lord says, 'I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation,'” (Psalms 91:14-16).

As per Robert's requests there will be no visitation or funeral, simply a small service at the burial site with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mindemoya Hospital or the Gideons International would be appreciated.

  2. Just want to thank the family for providing the nice lunch at the Spring Bay Church. Was sorry I was unable to attend the graveside ceremony due to my health. It was nice seeing some familiar faces again.
Had lots of good memories of times spent with Bob and Marg…right back to when they lived a couple of doors over from Jim and I on Southview Drive in Sudbury. Enjoyed times of singing and games with the two of them, as well. It’s so comforting to know we will be reuniting with them one day when we finally make it to that wonderful place called “Heaven” thanks to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus.
Blessings on each member of the family
