MEYER, Waltraut (Val) (nee: Jander)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that life’s journey ended for Val on February 17, 2015, at the Maison Vale Hospice, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle. Loving mother of Ellen King (David) and cherished Omi of Jennifer (Marty), Andrew (Melanie), and Jason (Marina). Pre-deceased by her husband Anton in 2002, son Alfred in 2009 and her parents Fritz and Gertrude Jander. Survived by her siblings; Edith Schneider of Sweden, Hans Jander (Lina), Karin Frances (Norm), and special sister-in-law of Elisabeth Lauff. She will be deeply missed by several nieces, nephews and companion, Joseph Schober. Born in Germany, Val and Tony immigrated to Canada in 1953, together building a beautiful life from humble beginnings. Val was a woman of many talents; baking her much loved gingerbread cookies, preparing large German family meals, knitting wool socks, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, wine making and spoiling her grandchildren. Val loved all animals and enjoyed spending time with her cat Puppele and bird watching. Val was a hardworking, selfless, generous and compassionate woman, leaving this legacy to her family. At Val’s request there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maison Val Hospice. Special thank you to Dr. Ravi Singh and the staff at 4 North HSN, and the Maison Vale Hospice, for their kind care during this difficult time. Arrangements entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services.
