The family announces the passing of their dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Georgina MacKay (MacMillan) 95 years on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Health Sciences North. Beloved wife of the late John Charles MacKay (predeceased in 2002). Loving mother of Charlie MacKay (Bride Roberts) of Halifax, Margaret Ladouceur (Gerry, predeceased) of Kitchener, Ann Basha (George Zalewski, predeceased and Doug Basha, predeceased) of Kitchener, Jane Smith, predeceased (John), Alex MacKay (Lesley) of Uxbridge and Gord MacKay (Sonia) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Tatum Ladouceur (fiancé Dexter Findlay), J.D. Ladouceur (Norah), George Zalewski Jr. (predeceased), David Zalewski (Pitcha Prakaylerdluk), Luke Smith (Catherine), Ali Rebek (Jeremy), Sandy MacKay (fiancé Kate Babkova), Jessica MacKay, Connor MacKay, Mitchell MacKay and Megan MacKay. Great-grandmother of Keziah, Taya, Taylor, Justin, Victoria, Jocelyn, Cassie, Vienna, Avery, Luca and Mila. Born to the late Dan and Margaret (Maclean) MacMillan she was raised in Lake Ainsley, Cape Breton, where her sole surviving sibling William MacMillan (Mary) still resides. She is predeceased by siblings Alexander, Duncan, Charles, Colin, Donald, Mary and Margaret. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Georgina spent her life in the service of others as a Registered Nurse. Her main focus was always with her family. In keeping with Georgina’s wishes there will be no public visitation or service as her family will be gathering privately to remember and celebrate her life.
