Brennan, Jerry

It is with great sadness that we announce that Jerry Brennan, 85, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 27, 2017. Jerry is survived by his wife Betty of 58 years, sons Mark and Sean (Kari) and daughter Jody (Paul), his grandchildren Kathleen, Melanie, Jessie, Robbie and Chris and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. He is survived by his sister Ronnie (Dan), his brother Roy (Evelyn), his sister in law Jean (wife of Gary) and pre-deceased by his brothers Carl, Jim and Gary. Jerry was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Jerry loved to work with his hands and always had many projects on the go. He was a diamond driller for thirty years and from time to time tried other professions. Jerry loved his projects and would often be found in his garage, planning his next activity, and searching for his hiding tools. He enjoyed sports and coached neighbourhood hockey for many years. He also enjoyed time with his young canine companion Jewel, a paying slot machine, Bingo, puzzles and a good western movie – which was every western movie. Jerry was always there to help others with projects or whatever he was needed for. He would say that he had a great sense of humour; we would say it was good. A special thank you to the Health Science North Hospital in Sudbury and the healthcare professionals including paramedics, nurses and doctors for their loving care, great professionalism and support to Jerry. Also thank you to Ranger’s Burial Service for all their support with arrangements. Jerry will be laid to rest at the Lasalle Cemetery in Sudbury at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 5, 2017. The family will also receive visitors at the family home on 516 Pine Street between 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations may be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury.

  4. I want to express my sadness and pass on condolences to aunt Betty and my cousins and their respective families. Uncle Gerry and aunt Betty were always nice to me. When we spoke we talked about old trucks, music and mineing. My mother Veronica (Ronnie) always spoke kindly of Gerry and used to fondly remember life on the farm where she tried to learn to drive stick, how she would pester her brothers, to the point she started to throw rocks at them. Even a classic where the Brothers invited my dad into the barn and closed the door on him and the bull. Brothers always looked out for baby sister and she loved them for it. We didn’t have enough time with Gerry but he won’t be forgotten. He was loved and admired and was known for a warm heart and friendly smile.
With love Christopher, Catherine and our children Richard, Ralston and Thea.
